Sustainable Crediton Newsletter 183, September 2026

  • Sustainable Crediton Newsletter 183, September 2026

Welcome to our newsletter, at the end of this broiling summer, at a time when we are being warned of a stormy winter to come. It seems that we are now experiencing climate change and its consequences in real time and it is both shocking and unacceptable that our senior politicians have little of consequence to say about it.

It appears that the development of the Jackdaw gasfield is about to be approved by the Government, probably closely followed by approval for the Rosebank oilfield.

It is timely therefore that there are two further screenings planned for the National Emergency Briefing, at Crediton Parish Church on 10 September and at Thorverton on 4 October: see Our Calendar for further details.

On the 26th September we are holding our annual Big Green Fair in the Town Square starting at 11.00am, with lots to interest and entertain us all: we hope to see you there.

Finally, apologies for the rather utilitarian appearance of this month’s newsletter. Your editor this month has been wrestling with technical difficulties in its production!

Best wishes, John Craythorne (technically challenged) and Lesley Thomas
