This, from Dave Harris who leads the re-wilding project at the parish church:
'The ‘wilded’ areas at the back of the churchyard were cut yesterday (27th August). It doesn’t feel reasonable to expect participation in collecting the risings on a bank holiday weekend particularly with such short notice and that decision has been made easier because of the forecast.
Therefore, we have scheduled Sunday 6th September at 10am for collecting the risings and making our very own bales of hay using a hand hay baler I have constructed. This was used for collecting the risings from the ‘wilded’ areas of the village green in Newton St Cyres and proved very successful and enjoyable, see the attached.
I will bring along the baler along with baler twine and some dumpy bags to help with the collecting of the risings. If anyone wants a bale or knows of someone who might please feel free to take however many you wish/can.

Definitely worth going, just to admire Dave's home-made baling machine!
