Screening: National Emergency Briefing

10 September 2026

The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.

On Thursday 10 September at 7:30pm in the Boniface Centre, Church Lane, Crediton, EX17 1EL, there is a second opportunity to see The People’s Emergency Briefing. This is a 50-minute film which combines authoritative scientific content from leading experts with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces - designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level.

There will be an expert panel to lead the discussion after the film, including Laurie Laybourn, an award-winning researcher, author and strategist. He leads the Strategic Climate Risks Initiative. He is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House and holds fellowships at the Institute for Public Policy Research and the Global Systems Institute, University of Exeter. He regularly writes for a range of publications and appears on TV and radio.

Here is Laurie's Overshoot podcast – a world beyond 1.5C which sets out the scenario for global heating in excess of 1.5 degrees centigrade: where we are now heading.
