Did you know that from September 2028 a new GCSE will be taught in schools. It is distinct from Biology and Geography. Called Natural History, it will focus on three themes:-
UK wildlife and habitats: Identifying, naming, and classifying British flora, fauna, and fungi (including native and invasive species) across urban, woodland, freshwater, and coastal environments.
Human Influence: Reviewing how human activity like urbanization, farming, deforestation, and fishing impacts local ecosystems.
Environmental Challenges: Deep-diving into evolutionary history, fossil records, biodiversity loss, climate change, and actionable conservation strategies.
Pupils, parents and teachers can share their views on the proposed content via a 12-week government consultation, running from 9.30am on Friday 12 June to Friday 4 September.
