TREE-SPOTTING WALK ON SANDFORD MILLENNIUM GREEN

Sunday 22 November 2026, 11.00 – 12.30

Join us to spend a leisurely Sunday morning walk just looking at trees, from butternuts to willows! This tree-spotting walk is aimed at people who want to find out more about local trees in the area of the Millennium Green at Sandford in Mid Devon.

Our focus on this walk is tree identification with bark and other aspects such as management and uses. The Sandford Millennium Green was first designed in 2000 and there are well-established native and introduced trees of interest. The walk will be led by Anne Stobart, local medical herbalist, who helps to organise maintenance of the Herb and Forest Garden area. This circular walk includes woodland areas and is on level paths entirely off road, lasting about 90 minutes. It is suitable whatever your level of knowledge of trees. We advise good footwear and rainproof gear in case of poor weather! The walk will also provide an opportunity to hear about further tree initiatives in the local area.

Start at 11.00 am by the noticeboard near the main entrance gate for Sandford Millennium Green. The Green is located at the southern end of the village of Sandford (also the endpoint). There is a small layby for parking. Contact for more details (such as changes due to weather) 07855 479622.
