What a brilliant sunny start to May. Lets hope it continues for
a while.
We have three events coming up in the next two weeks.
On the 4th May, there is our waste household plastics collection at Peck
& Strong, Lords Meadow Industrial Estate from 10am to 12:30pm.
This time, as well as the usual waste plastic, we are also
accepting waste biscuit wrappers. Under a new scheme launched by McVities we can collect any
plastic biscuit wrapper no matter what brand and exchange it for
cash for our charity of choice, Crediton Food Bank. The wrappers
will be reused and made into new products such as watering cans,
garden benches and waste bins.
On the 11th May at Crediton Town Square
10am to 1pm, the first Community Market of the year will feature a
general 'bring and buy' type produce stall to raise funds for our
expenses. Do you have some home made jam or chutney, a cake, some
rhubarb, a plant or two or even a few spears of asparagus? Bring
them along and, if there's something you want in exchange, make a
donation. We also hope for plenty of plants to get the gardening
going along with local crafts and fund raising/advertising stalls
for local organisations.
For a stall of your own, bring a table and any shelter you might
need. For more information contact El 01363 866543
Finally on the 15th May there is the inaugural
meeting of a new group that is open to all who either wish to begin
meditating or have some experience and would like to get
together to work in a group. Contact Paula on 866106 for more
details.
Oh, and don't forget to vote on the 2nd May
when there are the Devon County Council elections in which
several Sustainable Crediton supporters of various political
persuasions are standing for election as a local councillor. Its
great to see our supporters getting involved in local democracy.
This is the chance for local people to have a real say and
influence the future direction of the County and our local
priorities over the next four years.
