Recipe: Dutch Apple Pie

When you next make an apple pie try this version:


Shortcrust pastry

1 lb apples

1 tsp cornflour

Brown sugar to taste

Sultanas to taste

Lemon zest

A pinch of cinnamon.


Line an ovenproof dish with shortcrust pastry.

Fill with sliced cooking apples mixed with the rest of the ingredients.

Cover with a pastry lid. Make a couple of slits to allow any steam to escape and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake in a hot oven until golden brown. Good with a dollop of Devon clotted cream.
