The Food Festival was a great
success with the weather staying fine and dry. If anything, the
weekend was too hot! Fortunately the recycling point was sited
under the shade of the trees in the square.
We collected a number of bags of
recyclables, and were even able to add an additional recycling
stream with a request for used coffee cups
These were collected by a member of the public to use in the
garden.
The waste group will review the event at
their next meeting so see if continuing is still
worthwhile. It is frustrating however that at a food
festival we are unable to collect waste food for
recycling.
Our thanks go to all the volunteers who
came along to help out over the two days.
The Waste Action Group will again
be at the 9th year of the Crediton Food Festival on
the weekend of 17th and 18th June 2017. Once more, we will be taking recyclable
materials out of the waste generated by the
festival.
We are collecting clean plastic, cans, cardboard and paper, and
glass for Mid-Devon's Trade Waste depot. This year unfortunately,
we will not be able to collect food waste but there will be plenty
of Mid-Devon's bins on site.
If you would like to help out or for
further details please contact Jill Baines. Alternatively just make
yourselves known to us on the day to help out. All you will need
to bring along are protective gloves - gardening ones
will do.
Come and help us recycle at this
popular event.
