It was a very busy morning. Before we arrived at Peck &
Strong people had been dropping off their black bags of plastic, so
there was quite a mountain of bags to process before the official
start time. Andrew the PWS driver arrived at 9:30 and dropped off

As founder of the Waste Action Group, Paula Mossman has now
stepped down from the role after 7 years. The
group started with the "Banish the Plastic Bag"
campaign in Crediton and since then has been involved in a
number of projects connected with the Reduce, Reuse,

owned by Exeter City Council. Matt Hulland, MRF

The Waste Action Group got out the big bins once again for the
start of the annual Crediton Food Festival over the weekend of
14th and 15th June 2014. This time, four new
recruits joined the loyal stalwarts from previous Festivals. In the

Anne will produce a press article for the next
Courier to go with the photos taken by Nora on 31st May (now
published and very good it was too!!). We collected 57 bags in

During May's waste plastic collection, the total amount of waste
plastic collected at our bimonthly collections exceeded ten tonnes
in weight over 14 collections. That's over 700 dumpy bags of the
stuff, or seven double decker bus loads saved from landfill.

Forty nine newsletter readers responded to the Waste Action
Group's mini-survey about the proposed changes to Mid Devon's
recycling service from October 2015. The respondents were broadly
not in favour of the introduction of a charged garden waste

Mid Devon District Council are proposing to make some changes to
the waste and recycling service from October 2015. The changes set
out below are at the moment only proposals and they have not yet
been approved by the MDDC Cabinet or the full MDDC Council.

Devon Waste Plan which was recently out for public consultation. We
were horrified to note the lack of ambition in the plan. For
instance Devon County Council were projecting that recycling rates

Recycling rates in Mid Devon currently stand at about 55% by
weight of total waste. This means that almost half of everything
we throw out ends up in landfill. That's an awful lot of
resources that could be recycled and money that could be saved on
our council taxes.

the main collection at Crediton we now have
secondary sites in the villages of Cheriton Fitzpaine and
