Notes from
WAGs meeting, Monday 11th Feb at Jills house
Present: Jill, Charles, Paula, Anne, Esther
Apologies: Carolyn
1. Plastics
collection 23rd January
All agreed it had gone well. Paula
commented that perhaps we needed more traffic control due to some
dodgy parking
by the public. Anne had still not had confirmation of weight of
plastic from
PWS.
Charles to check with insurers whether we are
liable for accidents
if we dedicate someone to directing parking next time.
2. Plastics
Collection 9th March
We have a lot of leaflets left
and we should try and use them up.
Charles and possibly Anne to do stint at Tescos
on Friday 15/2 with a table of
plastics advertising event and giving out leaflets.
Anne to let Charles know if she is available.
We have been asked
by Tescos to do another similar on 7/3 during Tescos climate
change week. Charles to
organise this. Paula to help.
Everyone to put out leaflets and posters at
same sites as for
collection on 23rd Jan and/or check existing posters are in place.
Can use some
of the leaflets as additional posters.
Charles to take some leaflets to the Leisure
Centre.
Carolyn to drop off some of remaining leaflets
to Morrisons and rest
at Jills for others to collect from there ASAP.
Paula to check Morrisons a couple of times a
week to make sure
leaflets are on checkouts.
Charles will put out lollipops and banners on
day and collect/set
up A frame
Paula has placed another advert in Courier for
edition before
collection date.
Rest of day details as last
time.
Anne to ask Chris Freeman and others if they
will help?
3. Future of
Plastics Collections
After lots of discussion it was
decided to continue
plastics collections bi-monthly on 1st Sat of month
until
January 2014 with the agreement of Peck & Strong and PWS.
Dates as follows: 4th May, 6th
July, 7th September, 2nd November, 11th Jan
2014.
Jill will check with Peck & Strong and PWS
if dates OK.
Carolyn to be asked to make a new leaflet same
as last one but with
all 6 dates on once she has heard from Jill that dates are fine.
Leaflet to be
ready for 9th March. Suggest 2,000 copies as will cover a 10 month
period.
4. Clothes and
Household Goods Swap
Sat 23rd March
Publicity
Poster details were finalised. Paula to
amend and send to everybody for printing off at home.
Anne to see
if Chris can print some off at work. Jill to
print some off for Esther
Everyone:Posters to be distributed by same
people and to same places
as the Plastics posters around end of Feb/beginning of March.
Paula to organise an A5 leaflet with Hedgrow
based on the poster
details and bring to next meeting for distribution.
Paula to put adverts in 2 editions of Courier
leading up to event, a press release in final edition before event
and notification in next Sus Cred newsletter. Newsletter only
will mention Jill will store stuff in advance.
Carolyn to make signs for lollipops which we
will put out a week
beforehand at entrances to town.
Sus Cred banner to go on John Downes
fence again for week leading up. Charles to ask
John Downes about this and organise.
Charles to do a risk assessment
Helpers
Anne & Carolyn to run clothes
Jill and Esther to run household goods and make
signs for the tables.
Paula to do door
Charles to organise set up and knock down and
help Paula with door
Thirteen other people have agreed to
help on day, 2 wish to do clothes but rest happy to help anywhere.
Paula to
email details of day to them. People to be assigned to various
'duties' at next
meeting.
Leaflet for day
Anne has not yet started on a leaflet re waste
facts to give out
on the day. She will have something ready for next meeting.
Equipment for day
Paula & Charles to bring mirrors and
hangers
Anne to source clothes rails
Anne to source raffle tickets for clothes
Paula to source entrance tickets for main
door
Anne to arrange floats
Food & Drink
Food Group will organise this but
may need help with cakes. More details at next meeting.
Leftovers
Jill to arrange a company to take away left
over clothes and pay
us for them
Jill to take left over household goods to
charity shop/Punchbowl.
5. Treasure Hunt
Everyone to come to April meeting with ideas
for Waste related questions for Sus Cred Treasure Hunt in June.
Idea is to highlight waste reduction and recycling opportunities in
Crediton. Agreed reusable bags and water bottles would be good
prizes. Paula to relay info to Sarah.
6. Community Market stall
WAGs will organise this on Sat 8th June as part of the Crediton
Festival. Will use plastics as our theme and
also have display of what WAGs is about. Will begin organisation
at April meeting. As Carolyn was not present not known if anyone
had contacted her to help with Waste Sculpture.
7. AOB
Sus Cred has now become a consultee on major planning issues
affecting Mid Devon.
Charles to send in WAGs comments on Puddington
Anaerobic Digester supporting it in theory but querying why crops
had to be grown to supply it rather than using 100% animal manure
and slurry.
