1. Plastics
Collection Sat 2nd Nov
Leaflets are still displayed in many Crediton shops
Anne - will phone Peck & Strong to remind,
bring gazebo, send an email reminding all helpers, contact John
Turner age 11 and agree he can help, will liase with Sandford
Parish Council regarding potential collections in Sandford at
Parish Hall
Jill - will ring PWS to remind, will be in
Square on Fri giving out Credit Union leaflets if anyone wants to
join her to give out plastics leaflets
Paula - will highlight Jan date on all
remaining leaflets, supervise Ch Fitz collection, remind PWS to
pick up from Thornes if necessary
Charles - will bring table, rocks, leaflets,
tape, advertising lollipops and banners and remind Thornes re
possible collection of milk bottles from the end of their
drive.
All leftover leaflets after Sat to be put in Ashtons, Morrisons
and the library to use them up, advertise the Jan collection.
2. Biscuit
Wrapper Collection
This is now closed. Approx 2.8kgs of wrappers were collected in
8 parcels. We earned £46 from the wrappers and another £20 for
being the 15th largest collection in the UK making a total of £66
altogether.
Charles will investigate how the money is
transferred to the Food Bank from Tetracycle.
Paula will contact Sue at the Food Bank and see
if we can arrange a 'photo shoot for a mock cheque handover' which
we can use to attach to a press release for publicity.
3. Website
Charles has put leaflets onto website and
spoken to Sarah about how to reorder information on site so newest
shows first. He needs to experiment to find out how to do this.
Anne has started the idiots guide to recycling
and showed the current document around. She will resend vis email
to all.
Everyone is asked to give the document lots of
thought and send Anne their comments/suggestions/additions so they
can be reviewed at the next meeting.
Charles to send Junkmail to everyone via email
each time it comes out and to put it on the web page.
Esther to investigate how paint and furniture
can be recycled
Charles to investigate best way to recycle
mobile phones locally preferably.
4. New
Helpers
Charles will take volunteer list to plastics
collection on Sat and attempt to add to it asking for email
contacts as well as telephone numbers.
After Nov 11th meeting we will divide up the list bewteen us and
contact everyone on it to find out who would like to help with our
plans for projects in 2014.
5. Clothes
Swap
Paula has provisionally booked Boniface Centre
for March 22nd 2014
Charles will check out facilities/cost of
Crediton Football Club
Paula will check out cost/facilities of
Crediton Rugby Club
Final decision as to whether event will be held at Boniface in a
similar format to last year or whether it will change to a
different format will be taken on Nov 11th.
6. Transition
Honiton Talk
Anne had undertaken the talk. Approx 16 people
had attended including members of Transition Honiton, Sustainable
Ottery, Sustainable Wellington and 2 East Devon Councillors.
Anne went through how we got started and what
our collections involve.
Honiton are looking to perhaps start a collection on their
monthly market day.
SITA are opening a plastics recycling/heat from plastic plant at
Bristol in the near future which may change whole market for
plastics.
Legislation is likely to come into being in Devon to standardise
recycling across the county and mean that all plastic bottles are
collected across Devon.
7. Future of
Our Group Lunch Mon Nov 11th
Will be at Esthers and will start at
12.30pm
12.30pm to 1pm - intro to what we have achieved
so far split into 3 R's sections on 3 fli[p chart sheets -
organised by Anne
1pm to
2pm - Lunch Post It
notes and pens on the table for all to brainstorm ideas over lunch
and put them onto the flip chart sheets in relevant sections. Paula
to provide pens and post its
2pm to
3pm - review post
it notes and make decisions on the future

- what new things would we like to achieve
Aim to finish event by 3pm.

People who come to plastics collection on Sat also to be invited
where appropriate.
Paula to email Stella, Chris and Nancy who have
all said they are coming to ask them to bring food.
Carolyn to contact Jenny Hole and to
resend her Paula's email asking her to come as for some reason
emails from Paula do not seem to get through to her.
8. Little
Rotters
Anne felt that she was constantly chasing this
group and getting very little response.
Agreed she should leave it for the Rotters to contact us if they
wanted our support.
9. Any Other
Business
Jill reported that Uffculme have a Green Day on
May 10/14 and felt it would be a good place for a bin doctor
project.
Jill to give Delia Kennedy of Uffculme Charles'
contact details so she can get in touch with him for details of how
it works if she wants to.
