The Waste Action Group is currently setting up a partnership with Mid Devon Community Recycling. Together we plan to set up a new social enterprise/charity organisation to increase public awareness of waste and recycling issues. Our first project looks likely to be creating a 'Community of Excellence' within the local area to show what can be achieved in terms of waste reduction and recycling when our efforts are focussed on one small community. A shortlist of villages is being prepared for what we see as the initial trial and the group had a productive meeting with representatives of both MDDC and DCC last week to see what support could be achieved from the local Councils for this initiative.

If you would like to help, the group will be looking for people who have a few hours to spare this autumn to assist with the campaign. Training will be available and if you are passionate about seeing a real reduction in waste, including food waste, and an increase in domestic recycling rates we need your help.
