Matters Arising:
Increasing the awareness of the Campaign (postponed until the
next meeting)
The meeting focussed on the proposed cycling leaflet for
Crediton to share routes around the town and encourage people to
cycle for fun.
Funding
Laura confirmed that we are awaiting confirmation of a grant
from Crediton Town Council to contribute to the leaflet design and
publication.
Laura will also apply to Devon County Council for Locality
Budget Funding and submit to Nick Way before Christmas.
Laura will attend the core Sustainable Crediton group to update
them on progress to date and to explore options for any match
funding.
Some members of the group have met with Sarah Green to explore
leaflet design options and to secure a quote for the design
work.
Laura will seek another quote from Alan Murray for design
work.
Hedgerow Print has quoted for 1000 A3 colour leaflets.
Routes
Mark & Kath shared some routes already published on our
Facebook page via the website Map My Ride where routes can be made
public and shared with others. It was agreed that adding to the
list of routes would be a good idea even after the production of
the leaflet.
The routes are between 4 and 12 miles and take in tea/coffee
shops and pubs. It was agreed that it would be a good idea to
advertise/promote these on the leaflet and approach the businesses
about any potential sponsorship.
The routes also explored options for travelling back by
train.
The group compiled a list of streets used by cyclists in
Crediton- we will colour code roads identified as frequently used
by cyclists including a safe commuter route to Crediton
station.
It was suggested that the road between the Station and Tesco is
a good place for children to cycle safely.
It was suggested that the leaflet could use symbols to describe
places where bikes can be locked and left safely.
To promote the routes and the Campaign we will arrange a
Boniface Trail Campaign cycle ride to test out some of the
identified routes on the last Sunday of each month weather
permitting:
January 26 @11.30 Crediton Town Square to the Beer Engine
February 23 @11.30 Crediton Town Square to New Inn at
Coleford
March 30 @11.30 Crediton Town Square to Sandford
We will advertise in the Courier and take the opportunity to
take photos for the leaflet, local newspaper articles and campaign
awareness raising.
Laura agreed to check with Sustainable Crediton regarding any
public liability insurance.
Links with the Schools
Laura has made contact with Haywards. They have shared
information about roads used by the school for cyclability
training. They have also offered a session with children of year 5
and 6 to explore how much they cycle and whether they would use the
leaflet. We will use the opportunity to gather quotes for the
leaflet.
Active Devon
Andy Sloper of Active Devon has made contact via Kate
Lock. Active Devon is a local physical activity
and sports partnership. Active Devon aims to
provide a single source of activity information. It was agreed we
would invite Andy Roper to the next meeting in the new year to
understand how Active Devon can help with our Campaign.

AOB
We thought it might be a good idea to suggest there is link from
Crediton Town Council Webpages to our Face book page.
The group discussed options for exploring Lottery funding for
the cycle Trail in the longer term.
Kath agreed to seek an update from the Environment Agency on
progress of plans for the Flood Defence scheme.
We explored options for linking with other groups such as Newton
St Cyres Community Speed Watch.
The next meeting will be held at Crediton Inn -
the date will be confirmed in the New Year.
