CCA Transport group has put some proposals through for
consideration by the Sustainable Communities Act.
Following an inspiring day conference with John Whitelegg
in Exeter on 9 May and knowing of follow up by Transition
Exeter Transport group, CCA Transport group submitted the following
two proposals, before this year's deadline,
through Sustainable Communities Act.
We would like the Government to introduce
legislation and regulation to:
-
Enable local authorities to take responsibility for ensuring
that an integrated transport service is provided,
including:-
-
-
Timetables which integrate rail and bus services and ensure ease
of connection between them
-
Ability to specify routes, timetables and frequency and invite
tenders to fulfil these contracts without restriction from
providers
-
Power to initiate a prepayment ticketing system valid with all
bus and train providers
-
Ensure that all buses in rural areas are capable of carrying at
least 2 bicycles.
Although all SCA proposals have to go before a local forum, our
proposals are backed with clear evidence of support and we are
hoping for success.
