It's beginning to feel like now or never...
Extinction Rebellion has recently announced a change in tactics,
with a renewed emphasis on non-violent direct action but moving
away from disruptive actions such as road blocking.
To this end, it is planning a mass action in Parliament Square
from 21st April, with the aim of involving 100,000 people. There is
further information here.
Understandably, a lot of the detail appears to be in the process
of being worked out. The main communication tool being used by XR
is Mattermost,
where you can register and follow what is going on. From the chat
I've seen, it looks as if it is hoped to continue this action at
least until the coronation on May 6.
If there is sufficient support locally for supporting this
action in London, it may be worth thinking about shared transport,
maybe a coach. As a minimum it would be good for people to be in
touch with each other and able to buddy up on the day.
I'm not available on 21st (though will be on 23rd), but would be
happy to act as coordinator / contact point for those who wish to
be in touch with each other. If that includes you, get in touch via
the link on this page.
