90 people stayed for the end-photograph - forming a green heart to symbolise our love for the earth

In spite of gale & storm warnings, more than 200 people turned up to the event to show support for the up-coming Climate Change Conference in Paris  and made their own personal commitments to tackling climate change.  People came, not just from Crediton town itself, but also from the surrounding area - some cycling in, in spite of the heavy rain!

29 local organisations, including businesses, schools and churches, also made commitments and show-cased what they are already doing in a mini-exhibition.

The Woodmen entertained us with a selection of songs (including some old favourites with a new theme);  Ian Beech enthralled the crowd with his performance poetry; the Town Crier (Kevin Payne) attracted much attention in the High Street and Town Square;  Laura Conyngham, Frank Letch and Martin Binks all gave excellent speeches and more than 90 people stayed to the end to form a giant green heart which is being publicised worldwide by Avaaz.

Our huge thanks go to all the people who came along, volunteered and/or helped plan and arrange the day ... Many hours of work were put into organising the event and it was a huge relief that it was such a great success in spite of the weather!
