Coppicing at Morchard Bishop. Brilliant sunshine with clear blue
skies. Lakes of mist in valleys and the rolling Devon winter

Wooding today. We are working our way down through a Devon
valley, coppicing the hazel and taking out unwanted species. The
main purpose is to reinvigorate the ecosystem of a managed
woodland, to let in light allowing greater biodiversity. The

through to March at Moor Farm near Morchard Bishop. We are
currently coppicing a beautiful wood in lovely surroundings. We are

Five of us continued coppicing in the woodland, removing hazel ,
protecting the stools with brash and stacking logs by the track for
collection later. In the afternoon we reinforced the log stacks
with corner posts.

A work party to collect the coppiced wood from last
season.

Last outing of the season,
coppicing. A beautiful spring day, great tits calling , buzzards
mewing, chainsaws buzzing. The creaking and groaning of all, when
work ceased, spoke volumes.

Having finished the hedge laying in the orchard, we will coppice
in the woodland near the quarry.
We had a very productive day removing a number of invasive
blackthorn trees and coppicing many hazel stools.

Seven of us turned out on a bitter cold misty morning. However
the mist soon lifted into a clear blue sunny sky. The temperature
warmed up as the sun shone and as we lit two bonfires to clear up
