Last outing this year. The

Thin pickings of elm suckers and thorn with few hazel stools. Mild
with a slight easterly and low cloud. We worked through a short
unforecasted shower, feeling all the better when it eased off.

Chill easterly wind with the sun breaking through on occasion.
Not much laying done but much thinning and clearing, with bonfires.
It was lovely to meet up and a grand day out.

Perfect autumn day, cold bright
and sunny. The lane being closed near to the turn off for the farm
caused the forming of a small convoy seeking an alternative route.
The Benny Hill chase routine comes to mind as we followed a member
of the group with a Sat-Nav zigzagging around the lanes. We

Eddy's thoughts about the first work party of the season: First
outing of the wooding year yesterday. On arrival we found that the
land owners were about to leave for a wedding in Austria. Over a
period of time, the usual suspects made an appearance. It was good
to see them after the summer break. ...

Six of us turned out on a beautiful day at Poltimore Church
where we continued to cut the beech hedge to about 4 feet high. We
cut 8 trees down to size. The remaining 15 or so trees are
positioned such that they will fall either on a wrought iron fence
or the lovely old stone wall. How we will proc ... 15th February 2016
