Review of Woodland and Hedgerow Winter Work Party 7 to
Tucking Mill Farm, Zeal Monochorum, EX17 6DF
Today seven of us finished laying the hedge along the side of
the bridle path. We also shifted a vast pile of wood from orchard
to close to the gate for Gerald to transport to the shed for
storage and seasoning.
Eddy said " Short morning hedge laying in Zeal, good turn out of
the usual suspects. Dry with a stiff North Westerly causing a
significant wind chill, under an overcast sky. The sun managed to
break through on a few brief occasions but gave no warmth. We were
nearing the end of laying the east hedge of the sunken
bridleway.
Good to be there, only marred by intermittent outbreaks of
unsolicited folk singing. I can endure a sea shanty in twenty
verses as well as the next person - "Haul away boys, bound for
South Australia" ............................... ".
This is totally disingenuous, I did find myself singing a duet
with Pete of Sinatra's The Lady is a Tramp!
