We had a fantastic day's hedge-laying in beautiful November

Due to bad weather coming at about mid-day, we only managed a
half days work.
We will be cutting an overgrown beech hedge to about 4 to 5 feet
high.
First we will assess the work to be done and see how we can
protect the wrought iron fence from falling timber.

Grey, overcast and mild. Two
new members of the group Emma and Terry were welcomed and given a
safety induction by Dave. We cleared the land in front of the hedge
and broke in to hedge to commence laying. Much good work was done
as evidenced by Eddy's photos.

This will be a session to tidy up the orchard and burn all the
brash we have created. If the weather is fine it is envisaged that
we might roast vegetables in the fire embers and finish off the
season with a fire side social.

beech hedge at Poltimore Church. We are working for the Friends of
Poltimore Church. The Friends are clearing up the brash we produce
in trimming the beech hedge to a height of about 4 to 5 feet high.

high.
Drizzly start, then drying and the sun came out at the end.
Felled and cut a good amount of beech, excellent fuel once
seasoned.

Today seven of us finished laying the hedge along the side of
the bridle path. We also shifted a vast pile of wood from orchard
to close to the gate for Gerald to transport to the shed for
storage and seasoning.
