Come along to this FREE EVENT to have a cup
of coffee, exchange scions and get advice on grafting and root
stocks.
A scion is a length (up to about 15") of NEW growth, which
will be grafted onto a new rootstock, or onto a branch of an
existing tree. With scion, rootstock and grafting skills you can
have the satisfaction of producing your own fruit
tree(s).
This informal 'bring and buy' mini-market will allow you
to obtain scions or to exchange your (well-labelled) scions from
your own trees. There will be advice on how to collect and store
scions. Everything you need for grafting, (knives, tape and wax),
will be available for sale. There will also be a limited number of
rootstocks, (M25 and MM106 for standard and medium-size trees;
please check info on our website before event.) There will be
demonstrations of grafting as reminders to those who have already
learned the skill.
Note: If you wish to bring scions for sale/exchange
please arrive by 10.30am
For more information telephone Jane Pay, 01769-580159 or visit
the Orchards Live website.
Why not join us for a cup of coffee, discuss your orchard
plans and talk about local varieties to those who have the
experience of grown them?
