Just as the Woodland Trust had promised, our 'Wild
Harvest' hedge plants arrived very early on Monday 5th November,
each of the 420 plants carefully packed in its own little root
ball.
Undaunted, we sorted the plants into mixed packs - wild
rose, crab apple, hazel, elder and blackthorn, so that it was a
simple matter of taking the next plant from the
pack.
The ground was soft, thanks to all this lovely rain we
have had, and we found we could plant up to 50 plants in an hour
and still have time to chat.
Thankfully we had most planting done before the deluge, so
they should all be well rooted!
There isn't much to see at the moment, but come next
spring we hope to see the new leaves poking out through the grass
and maybe some flowers when next summer finally arrives.
