Mid Devon Council (following in the footsteps of
Devon CC) have adopted the 'Greening The UK' policy noting
amongst other things the many ways that trees and green spaces
enhance our environment and well-being.
It goes on to state that the council believes that there should
be greater emphasis on green spaces/gardens etc in planning
specifications and the benefits of tree and shrub planting in
publicly owned landscapes should not be underestimated.
Crediton needs more trees, as well as the trees that it has
needing preservation.
We would like to involve as many people as possible in
suggesting where a tree(s) could be planted. There are species
that would be suitable for quite limited spaces so do consider
small areas as well as places that would take a large tree.
Is there a piece of ground near you where a tree could be
planted?
Could you undertake to keep an eye on the tree and if needs be
give it a drop of water if the ground gets dry in the first
couple of years?
