We are a small group who have been working together for
about a year.
During this time we have undertaken a project to encourage
fruit tree planting in peoples' gardens (81 trees being
planted in January), organised for an area attached to
allotments to be planted with trees ( 10 trees
being planted in December) and been finding out who,
what, where, and how the local councils can
realistically be encouraged to plant more trees.
Having gone as far as we can in trying to get trees planted
in public areas we decided to contact Transition
Town Totnes to find out how they moved things
forward.
We would now like to encourage you all to identify a place
near where you live where a tree could in theory
be planted. We will then map this out with the council to
investigate against things like water, electricity etc..
To get trees planted it will require us as individuals to
become 'tree guardians' with responsibility for trees sited
near where we live or regularly walk. (We can organise some
training). It would also be our intention to apply for
grant funding to buy trees once we are in a position to do
this.
So we need as many people as possible to become involved in
a small or a big way....look forward to hearing from
you.
