Thanks to Ashton's Coffee Lounge for hosting the Pig Club's
first AGM in November. Members reported on a successful first year,
which saw six Oxford Sandy and Black weaners raised by Ann
Parkinson and Diana Mason. As everything went without incident, and
the weather was kind, there was a slight underspend, part of which
will be retained as a reserve, part of which is to be reimbursed to
members. Aside from visiting the pigs, we have also enjoyed curing
and sausage-making workshops, run by Pig Club members.
Plans for 2017 are developing. Diana and Ann both want to take a
break from pig-rearing this year, but two new sets of smallholders
have expressed an interest in raising Pig Club weaners. The timings
will shift slightly to accommodate smallholders' plans, so it is
especially important that anyone wanting to sign up for this year
sends in their form and
cheque to Anne Stobart, 21 Dean St, Crediton EX17 3EN by 23
January, which is also the date of our next meeting,
7pm, The Lamb Inn, Sandford. All welcome - do come along and find
out what it's all about!
