Sustainable Crediton held their
popular annual Seed Share on Saturday 20th February at the Old Town Hall, Crediton
from 11am to 2pm. There was no charge, only donations towards the
costs of the day.
This year's seed share was exceptional. Thanks to the hard
work of our volunteers organising the day and those helping on the
day, this was our best event yet, it was busy from beginning to
end.
The stalls of Tiverton Beekeepers , Orchard Live, Herbs for
Common Complaints, Composting and The Devon WildlifeTrust were
surrounded by visitors keen to find out more. Visitors not only
brought and took away seeds, they brought items for a give and take
stall which had a flow of interesting books, plants and gardening
equipment. Our bakers exceeded themselves bringing delicious cakes
and soups while the Woodmen provided a lively musical background,
both much to the enjoyment of everyone.
It was great to have so many visitors and if you came along we
hope you will come back next year. If you didn't visit this year,
do drop in next year and see what the event could hold for you.
Seed saving information is on our website at
http://www.realseeds.co.uk/seedsavinginfo.html. So give it a try
and bring your own saved seeds along to the next seed share.
A common belief is that everyone will already have the seeds you
have. One gentlemen said just that and I pointed out not everyone
would have everything yet. He replied 'surely no one would want
these Echinacea seeds', when a nearby lady promptly exclaimed
- those are just what I was hoping to find! So do save your
seeds - someone will love them.
