Stop Food Waste!

The UK's supermarkets are wasting millions of tonnes of food!

The Food Group are supporting Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's WasteNot campaign and have started a petition to go to local supermarkets to let them know what local people feel about wasting good food.

People are signing to show their support for:

  • Reducing waste in the store
  • Disposing of good food responsibly to those who need it
  • Reducing waste on farms by relaxing cosmetic standards
  • Treating farmers fairly

The petition will be at the December Farmers' Markets in Crediton or you can download a copy of the petition here or email us at  food@sustainablecrediton.org.uk

Help Nigerian farmers resist the corporate land grab

'Global Justice Now' is campaigning in support of small-scale farmers in Africa. They are being threatened  by the agribusiness front organisation known as the New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition. This organisation is set up to help big business impose monocultures of crops for export, appropriating the land of small-scale farmers who depend on their variety of crops for survival and who help to feed their local populations. This is the new sort of colonialism supported by our government through our taxes so that large companies can make a profit. This is not about feeding a growing population - small mixed farms can produce far more per acre and more sustainably than monocultures.

Local farmers in developing countries all over the world are protesting about the way they are being treated and campaigning to preserve their livelihoods. They need our support. Go to the Global Justice website to see what you can do.
