Review of 8 June Community Market to
Town Square, Market Street, Crediton EX17 2EE
The Waste Group oversaw this market with an exhibition about
plastic collection and a sculpture made from waste items. This
market was part of the Crediton Festival.
The Waste Group's stand was based on plastics recycling - what
you can recycle via your MDDC box, what you can recycle at our
collections and Punchbowl, what you can recycle at Punchbowl only
and what is currently not recyclable and why. There will be samples
on show as well as a display about the harm plastics do to the
environment eg. animals eating plastic waste.
We constructed a Waste Sculpture entitled 'A Summer Garden' that
was largely made from waste plastic bottles and other plastic bits
and bobs. It was about about 8ft tall and six ft square.
All markets are open to local gardeners and smallholders to sell
or swap their home grown surplus produce, preserves, cakes, etc.
Home produced crafts and local organisations are also welcome. You
can come with just few eggs or a basket of fruit - everybody is
welcome. For full details go to the Community
Market page. People have to provide their own tables and
cover but only a donation is required for the space.
