A bitterly cold day did not deter folk, though some had
adventurous journeys to make it to the Seed Swap.
Many visitors enjoyed the excellent lunches of home made soups
and cakes and for CCA members it was a chance to meet up and chat.
The film 'Farming for the Future' by Rebecca Hoskins, that followed
on from the seed swap, was also greatly enjoyed by visitors and
members alike.
The newly formed Crediton Garden Club, the Devon Wildlife Trust,
WEN and Co-Cars all had stalls
adding to the interest of the event. CCA also a table of tools and
books, Country Smallholding magazines and bay branches that had
been donated, which raised funds from donations.
Mid Devon
Council kindly loaned a range of the composting equipment they
sell at discounted rates to make a display. Their range now
includes the Green Cone Composter for all kinds of food waste.
(Contact customerservices@middevon.gov.uk, telephone 01884 255255
or visit the mid Devon website, prices range between £10.00 to
£20.00)
The great variety of flower, vegetable and herb seeds had been
contributed from the Heritage Seed Library, Seedy Sunday Brighton,
Tuckers and members of CCA.
The general feeling was that the event was a success and could
we hold another next year. The Food and Farming group hope to make it a regular
event and to build upon the positive beginnings of 2010.
