Sustainable Community Pig Club

Quality pork from field to plate

Would you like to get involved in the local raising of quality pork straight to your freezer?

The Crediton Pig Club aims to support native pig breeds and ensure excellent welfare for the animals. You pay £15 to join the Pig Club for a year. Members can sign up for a half-share in a pig and then commit to paying a regular monthly sum to cover the costs of raising the pigs. Young pigs, called weaners, are brought to market size at about six months old in early autumn. A half-share in a pig provides a substantial amount of meat including pork joints, chops and other cuts and products for the freezer, estimated at 20 to 25 kg. Smaller shares may be available based on weight but choice of cuts cannot be guaranteed.

The Pig Club are recruiting new members for pig sharing in 2017. Members will be able to get involved with planning the activities of the Pig Club and other optional benefits will include a sausage-making day. Click here for details of our 2016 AGM on 14 November, and to find out about the offer for 2017.
