To follow up on our last update in May, the Community Larder at
the library is going from strength to strength. The new fridge,
launched in May and featured in the Courier, has proved very
popular. Anyone can pop in and pick up something tasty. We also
receive chilled and ambient food via our Fareshare subscription
every Friday lunchtime - new volunteers are always welcome to help
with unloading and re-stocking. We continue to collect from Tesco
and other supporters. Our App lets us know since starting we have
made 492 collections from Tesco stores in Crediton, collecting
9,609kg of food, saving 30,747 kg of CO2. This success rests on all
our funders, supporters and volunteers, so if you would like to
help please get in touch via the link below
Food stall and help required
The Larder Group have agreed to run a food stall at the Big
Green Fair in the Square on September 23rd, serving soup and bread,
tea/coffee and cakes. Also hoping to run a 'help yourself' table of
donated surplus foodstuffs alongside the food counter. Hoping to
raise funds for the Community Larder via donations.
So we very much hope that that lots of Lovely
Larder People and other well-wishers will be able to:
- join us in the square from 9.00 onwards to set up our stall
and prepare to heat up drinks and soup
- bring donations of cake or soup (soup ideally in a saucepan
ready to re-heat) together with ingredients lists
- bring donations of surplus fruit and veg for our Help Yourself
table
Please contact Alison Orchard using the link on this page, or
existing members of the group via our WhatsApp, to confirm what
help you can offer: thanks in anticipation.
