On the 3rd December we learned that we had been successful in
our application for funds. We were awarded almost £40,000 to be
shared between about 25 households who have expressed an interest
in the scheme. The funds come in the form of vouchers for specific
renewable heat technologies installed before the end of March 2013.
The voucher values are significantly greater than the standard
vouchers currently available to any home owner having renewable
heating installed. Read more about how to become involved by
reading the project webpages as we are still
open for new expressions of
interest. Households taking part in the project will also get
discounted prices for the technologies they install and will be
eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive if the Government go
ahead with it later in 2013. We have selected four installers to
work with us to give choice in the installation of air source heat
pumps, ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar thermal
panels. Additionally anyone joining our no obligation scheme will
have a free renewable energy assessment and home energy performance
certificate by a qualified assessor.
This is the time of year to be considering the installation of
solar photovoltaic panels to be ready for the spring peak
generating time. We are still running our scheme with Solarsense.
Installing solar PV panels over the next two or three months should
give you a 10 percent tax free inflation linked return on your
investment, an income for 20 years, a contribution to your own
electrical energy usage and some insulation from future electricity
price hikes. Go to the project web pages for more
information.
