Review of Firewood from Hedgerows Work Party 4 to
Hedgerow near Sherwood House, Newton St Cyres, Devon, EX5 5BT
Updated 22th October
Weather turned out to be better than expected, only one 20 minute
period of rain. Nine people attended and we did a massive amount of
scrub clearing in preparation for our next work party on the 28th
October.
53 man hours worked = 6.6 project days
Work Scope
Site induction and safety talk.
We will be continuing work on the hedgerow we worked on in
February.
Clear scrub from infront of the hedgerow. Trim the brash -
then tie up brash for its removal - sawing up logs. Sorting,
processing and removal of poles. Carrying material to the
road.
Extend the area (not working on the hedge bank) - as above but
initially the area may need clearance with a slasher - most wood
then initially cut with bowsaws and cleared as in previous
paragraph.
An opportunity for people to learn how to work with bowsaws and
billhooks.
