We are holding a wood fuel from
hedgerows event on the 24th November on John Quicke's land near
Newton St Cyres. This will be a demonstration event with experts
from Devon Rural Skills Trust. We hope to be able to form a
community wood fuel group following this event if we have enough
interest. So if you use wood for fuel, would like some winter
exercise, would like to learn new skills such as hedge laying
please come along to this event. Spaces are limited, so please book
by contacting Charles Mossman through this website.
We have been successful in reaching Phase 2 of the
Renewable Heat Premium Payment Communities Scheme
with our Sustainable Crediton Warm Homes
Project. Charles Mossman attended a workshop organised by the
DECC on the 2nd October to learn what procedures we must follow for
Phase 2. There were only 45 community groups successful at Phase 1
and any successful bids at Phase 2 will get a share of £8 Million.
We have collected 25 expressions of interest for this project but
We would like to hear
from any home owner who does not have mains gas and who is
considering installing solar hot water panels, a heat pump or a
biomass boiler in the next 5 months. We may be able to give you a
good deal if we are successful. We have until November 16th to
submit our bid. We will be contacting all the people who have
expressed an interest before the 16th to collect some further
information to enable us to complete the application
accurately.
If you are considering installing solar PV panels, the feed-in
tariff rates are changing for new installations supplied from the
1st November 2012. The new rate for panels of 4KW or less is
15.44p/KWh. Full details of the new FIT rates can be found on OFGEM's website. Our Solar
PV Project even at the new FIT rates produces a 10% return on
an investment in solar panels which is tax free and index linked
for 20 years. Enquire by contacting Linda Lever through the website
or emailing info@sustainablecrediton.org.uk
We are still fine tuning a statement regarding our thinking on
wind turbines following all the bad press
recently. We hope to publish this statement shortly. See the latest
