Mid Devon District Council is carrying out the statutory review
of its local plan, which includes public consultation.
Once approved, it will cover the period up to 2043 and will be
key to determining the shape and nature of our district in the long
term.
The consultation process is set within the context of six over
riding principles which the council proposes:
Firstly, an over-arching priority to respond to the climate
emergency and moving to a net zero carbon future;
Then, a further five priorities covering the following:
- Development, infrastructure and regeneration;
- Housing;
- The natural and built environment;
- Health and Well-being;
- Economy.
The consultation period ends on 28th March. It feels really
important that the council receives maximum feedback on its
proposals. Core Group will seek to respond on behalf of our
members, but individual submissions are very important too. We ask
therefore that all our members who can find a couple of hours
(that's probably how long it will take) before the end of the
month, to respond to this.
The council's proposals can be found here, and the on line
consultation questionnaire is here.
It requires a bit of effort, but needs to be done! And the
document is actually quite interesting!!
