People who live in and near Crediton and need short-term credit
will have a real alternative to expensive loans from door-step and
internet lenders from 15 September, when Plough and Share Credit Union's access point
opens, run by Sustainable Crediton volunteers.
A £500 loan at Plough & Share's highest
interest rate is almost £7 a week cheaper over 12 months than a
popular alternative, with no early settlement or lump sum charges
(figures taken from providentpersonalcredit.com 18th June
2012).
The Credit
Union is a Devon-based not-for-profit organisation owned by its
members, whose interests come first. Regulated by the Financial
Services Authority, so savings are safe and loans are responsibly
made, it allows people to keep their money in the County.
Plough and Share Credit Union will be open
from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. every Saturday morning from 15
September in the Fire Station Community Room in Charlotte
Street.
Come and support us! Even better, come and help us run the
access point, and join the Credit Union.
