Community Bookshop Launch 17 November

27 September 2012

Learn more about plans to make the Crediton Community Bookshop a hub for all kinds of bookish activity including events, reading groups and writing groups; it will be a place to showcase local literary talent, to interact through social media and, above all, to find friendly, knowledgeable service in person.

Hear from prominent local writers, discover what transforming The Crediton Bookshop into the Crediton Community Bookshop will mean, and enjoy a drink.  Be part of it by telling us what you'd like to see, and by getting involved. Even better, help make it happen by buying a few shares.

Writers Dame Babette ColeIan Mortimer and Matt Harvey will provide readings for all ages.  For the younger audience, Babette Cole will read at 4.15 p.m., followed by Ian Mortimer ('A narrative historian of exceptional gifts') at 6.00 p.m.  Popular Totnes-based poet Matt Harvey (as heard on Radio 4) will perform at 7.00 p.m. And a story for children, The King of Ireland's Son, will be read by Geoff Fox and Peter Hamilton at 5.15 p.m.

Come at any time between 4.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m., when the event closes and a FREE raffle for £100 of books will be drawn.

You don't have to buy your shares on the night - the share offer will remain open for three months.  You can simply pick up a share offer document, talk to the Directors of the new company and committee members, and contribute your thoughts.

For more information, email the Crediton Community Bookshop and find us on Facebook.

It's an exciting new venture.  If you like to read, please support it!
