For those that don't already know, Sustainable Crediton is a growing group of local people who share concerns about the effects of climate change and the growing climate crisis.  Our Facebook page and website  www.sustainablecrediton.org.uk provide further details of our activities and events.

AGM Review

At our AGM on 8th May we reviewed a busy year of activity, with highlights including the re-launch of the Crediton Repair café, the expansion of our Community Larder project, a highly successful Seed Share, and active work by our Climate Action Team with churchyard re-wilding and a public meeting about the new Land Use Framework for Crediton. We also enjoyed an excellent talk by Paul Cleave about eating sustainably and avoiding waste - with fascinating insights into the frugal habits of Devonians in past centuries.

Opportunities to get involved over the summer

We have swift talks/walks coming up, working parties at our Pollinator plots (aiming to provide a biodiversity 'corridor' through the built up area), open days our hub in the Town Centre, 'The Sustainabubble' (8 North Street) with activities including textile upcycling (making tote bags and 'everlasting tulips', saving many kilos of discarded fabric from landfill). Our Climate Action Team meet at the Crediton Inn on the second Thursday of the month and welcome new members.

New Projects:

- Big Bike Revival - if we can find a few extra volunteers by the end of this month, who would like to accompany rusty or inexperienced cyclists as they regain their confidence, we will try to launch a Bike Revival project as soon as possible., Please contact us if you could help.

- 'Make and Mend' - a library of things - a new way of sharing the equipment that lies unused on our shelves for 50 weeks of the year! Again, please contact us if this interests you.

And finally, our next big date for your diaries:

Our annual Big Green Fair in the Square will take place on Saturday 28th September from 11:00 to 2.00pm. Plenty of stalls, activities, music, food…come and enjoy!
