I'm writing in my capacity as Secretary of the Sus Cred Core
Team, to inform you all that Dee Ross resigned as Chair with effect
from 22nd June. Remaining members of Core Group met on June 26th
and approved Terry Hadley as Acting Chair for the time being.
We are very glad to say that Dee will remain fully engaged and
actively involved in the work of Sustainable Crediton.
The timing means that we have no immediate opportunity to thank
Dee publicly or express our appreciation of the huge contribution
that she has made to Sustainable Crediton over many years. We hope
there will be an opportunity to rectify this as soon as possible,
at a future event, providing a chance for the wider membership to
thank Dee in person.
In the meantime, I'd like to write a few words of
appreciation.
As other long-standing members of the organisation will know,
Dee is a passionate environmentalist, and I think we all honour her
commitment and unflagging work in support of climate action and
biodiversity. She is, of course, a strong supporter of the
Transition Towns movement.
Dee helped develop our Pollinator Project, and has been a
hard-working member of the Pollinator Group. More recently she has
worked as an active member of the Larder Group. Dee is also the
lead figure organising our annual and very popular Seed Share, and
she has been a keen supporter of our Big Green Fairs, and a keen
proponent of a green Hub for Crediton.
In addition, Dee has played very important roles in outreach.
She has effectively sought out new opportunities for training,
networking and funding for the organisation, and has helped us to
build very productive ties with Crediton Town Council. Dee also
worked hard on the back-room jobs, developing paperwork,
correspondence and policies for the organisation, working to manage
our Facebook site.
As a Core Group, we want to express huge thanks to Dee for all
the indefatigable work she has undertaken in the role of Chair, and
we look forward to co-working with her on all the projects she
continues with.
Meanwhile we wish Terry every success in his new (temporary)
role as Acting Chair.
Caroline Romijn
Secretary, on behalf of Core Group
