Review of Our Annual Get-together Mashup!

 to

Crediton Inn, EX17 1EZ GoogleMap

Drinks and nibbles were served before the meeting and several new members welcomed.

Notes of the AGM are as follows:

  • The minutes of the previous AGM were approved.
  • Anne Tucker presented the Treasurer's Report, explaining that the income from 2014 was mainly the result of a large grant to the Energy Group for their Renewable Energy Project which has now come to an end. The expenses for 2015 exceeded the income and the Core Group are aware that greater emphasis needs to be put on fundraising.
  • Group leaders gave reports of their highlights from 2015 and plans for 2016 (see attached document for details)
  • It was agreed that the Core Group would arrange a regular, informal event where anyone could attend to socialise and debate etc with other members
  • Anne Stobart gave a progress update on the Pig Club
  • Gerald Conyngham gave a summary of the Credit Union explaining how low the interest rates are for loans given out by the Plough & Share scheme. The organisation needs greater publicity to raise awareness of these benefits.
  • Tony Gale was unable to attend to give an update on the Crediton Flood Resilience Group
  • It was agreed to re-elect the following members to the Core Group:
  • John Downes also volunteered to continue in his non-elected role of Town Council representative
  • There were no candidates for the following roles:
    • Secretary
    • PR/Marketing
    • Food Group representative
    • Economics Group representative

Anyone interested in taking up any of these roles would be most welcome. Please contact us!

  • Special thanks were given to previous members who were not able to stand for re-election:
    • Anne Hughes, who is temporarily standing down due to health reasons
    • Alex Borchardt who joined in 2015 and raised awareness and prompted much debate on TTIP (the potential trade agreement between Europe and America)
    • Linda Lever, one of the founder members of Sustainable Crediton
    • Gerald Conyngham, a long-standing member of the Core Group and previous chair

The evening ended on a musical note with songs from members of the Hedgerow Group and a singalong of sea shanties and country songs where everyone joined in.
