Sustainable Crediton are in the early stages of planning an
event in the Town Square (if available) on the 28th
November from 10am to 12 noon. It is in support of a global climate
rally to coincide with the global Paris climate talks which start
on the 29th November.
We hope to get hundreds of people into the Square to make energy
efficiency/lifestyle etc pledges which will be bundled up and given
to Mel Stride to give to David Cameron. We hope to organise a mass
participation photo with the crowd in the shape of a heart
displaying their pledges. This photo to be transmitted to AVAAZ in support of their campaign to get the
world's governments to commit to a strong climate deal in Paris. We
have booked the Woodmen band to do a short set which includes John
Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" but using the words "Give Earth a
Chance". We'd like to get the crowd singing and chanting this
too.
Volunteers will be needed to:
- Hand out pledge forms on the day and beforehand at Farmers
Markets, along the High Street & Lords Meadow
- Help with set-up and strip-down of event equipment
- Manage the pledging 'stall' on the day
- Manage children's activities (e.g. drawing competition, making
Xmas Tree Decorations) on the day
- Take photographs[Position
filled]
- Manage social media (Facebook & Twitter pledges)
- Write editorial for press releases
We will not be able to run this important event without the help
of our supporters in the planning and on the day.
Please consider coming along to our next planning meeting on the 2nd November
7:30pm or email Sarah Green with what you can offer to help to
do.
