Sustainable Crediton has a flag flying in Crediton High Street
for the next 6 weeks as part of the CredFest Flag Festival.
See if you can spot it ! Crediton Arts Centre organised the event
which has seen two local artists co-ordinating the design and
sewing of 40 flags representing local shops and organisations.
The flags are designed to brighten the High Street during the
Crediton Festival which runs until mid July.
Flag making workshops took place in the old Treloars shop on
Crediton High Street during March, April and Early May. Paula
Mossman and Anne Thomson undertook the task of making a flag for
Sustainable Crediton. It was surprisingly complicated and time
consuming but very interesting. The remit was to design a colourful
flag representing our organisation. The final design has a
blue background with the familiar Sustainable Crediton pink and
white flower logo forming the centrepiece and also features a tree,
a wind turbine and the sun.
The flags are hanging from the Christmas tree holders above the
shops and businesses along the High Street. It will be really good
fun spotting all the different designs and matching them to the
organisations that produced them. Many thanks to the Arts Centre
for getting this project started and to Charlotte and Bridget
the artists in residence who were brilliant with their imaginative
designs and practical help. The Arts Centre are hoping to
build on the number of flags in subsequent years.
