The next promotional tool to be developed for Sustainable
Crediton is a flag. It will be created to fly in the High
Street as part of the Crediton Festival in June and July 2013. The
festival organisers are hoping that at least 40 flags representing
different shops and organisations in Crediton will be created and
erected in the Xmas tree holders along the High Street during
the festival. It should be quite a sight!
The flag will be designed, cut out and sewn in the Cred Fest
temporary home at the old Treloars shop in the High Street. It
is in the early stages of design at present but is likely to
include our Market Square logo and some symbols to represent the
work of the various action groups. For logistical reasons it cannot
contain words. Ann Thomson, a Sus Cred supporter, with help from
Paula Mossman, Carolyn Scott and the ladies running the project
will make the flag.
If you would like to know more about the flag making project in
general or would like to volunteer your help with flag making you
are welcome to call into the workshop whenever the lights are
on and the doors are open. More details below:-
Help us to flag up the town with The
Crediton Flag Project
The project is modelled on the hugely successful Mortonhampstead
Flag Festival, now in its third year. The flags will become a
regular feature of town events, providing a great advertising
opportunity for local businesses and groups.
To make this exciting project happen we need your help:
1. Make a flag
If you would like to make a flag to represent your group or
business please book a place at one of the workshops (contact
details below). Businesses will be asked to pay £50 for a
flag, but there is no charge for voluntary groups. The workshops
will run from 10am to 4pm on the following dates:
April 2nd, 4th, 8th,
13th, 15th, 18th,
22nd, 23rd, 25th, 29th,
30th
May 2nd, 7th, 12th,
18th
2. Lend us a sewing machine
If you have a sewing machine in working order, that you no
longer use, we would love to borrow it for the next 3 months.
3.Donate materials
The flags will be made, as far as possible, from recycled
materials, such as old tents, umbrellas or waterproof clothing. If
you have any of these items that you want to get rid of, please let
us know or drop them off at the High Street shop during workshop
hours.
4. Volunteer
If you enjoy sewing, we need your help with making and stitching
designs onto 40 flags.
