On Tuesday 16th October Linda Lever and Anne Tucker did a
presentation to the Town Council on the work of Crediton Climate
Action past present and future.
It was very well received by the Town Council and has resulted
in us now being officially adopted by the Council as an
organisation that has their wholehearted support and potentially
some funding as well.
Fantastic job Linda and Anne! Thanks also are due to Charles
Mossman and Laura Coynygham who helped prepare the
presentation.
The Crediton Gazette was at the meeting and were inspired to do
a piece on Crediton becoming a Transition Town as a result of the
presentation. Watch out for a front page spread and a photo next
week!
Here is an extract from the minutes of the meeting:
"Following the presentation and
questions from councillors, it was agreed to applaud the work
of the group and support its endeavours to achieve transition town
status. To that end, it was further agreed that members, at
the forthcoming budget meeting (Finance Committee), would
consider providing a suitable grant in support of the
group's aspirations. The group would supply the Clerk with the
necessary supporting documentation.
It was generally accepted that
little consideration was being given to the effects caused by
the oil shortage and the implications for sustainability. Thought
should be given to post-transition development. Regular
updates from the group would be valued and it was agreed that
a closer working relationship between the group and the Council
should be adopted."
