Crediton Community Allotment Project, organised by Westbank Community Health and Care

Westbank say: 'The aim of the project is to improve the social, mental and physical well-being of people in the community especially after lockdown who will benefit from being part of a social group all taking part in working outdoors on an allotment safely together. Volunteers help with all aspects of growing food on site: sowing seeds, bringing on plants, weeding, watering, harvesting etc. as well as supporting others within the community to take part.'

The project has gone from strength to strength. There is a new workshop shed and paved area with seating to enjoy the view across Crediton. We also have raised beds and landscaped areas for ease of access. We plan to run group sessions covering growing food, sustainability and other community-based themes and an open day on 22nd May 2021. We will be working hand in hand with other community organisations including the food bank and are now starting planting of different areas.

Volunteers are at the allotment every Wednesday. You are welcome to visit during that time however it is essential to contact Katheryn Hope, Westbank Activity and Volunteer Coordinator, before visiting via the link to the right of this page, or by phone, 01395 446896. The allotment can be found going up the hill at Barnfield, the gate at the top on the left and the first allotment on your right - it is the top allotment.

We will be recruiting a Seasonal Allotment worker in Spring who will be running growing groups. We welcome new people to come and enjoy the Community Allotment.
