Sustainable Crediton Newsletter Issue 148 October 2023

Photograph of trees in autumn

Welcome to the October newsletter.

The weather really is changing but it brings good things too.  The apple harvest is plentiful and the Community Larder will be a good place to add yours to if you have any spare. We had a fantastic day at the Fair in the Square on 23 Sept.  Do take a look at the article to see just how many people took part.  The Green trail was a new addition - particularly welcome was the Repair Cafe.  This will now be a monthly feature on the last Saturday of each month so look out for more info on that.

This issue gives news on the #PatchworkCrediton project that is ongoing. Take a look at the events page for dates. Some are drop in and some bookable.  There's also news on our new Climate Action Team, Anne Stobart's new book and planning for a sustainable Christmas amongst other articles.

With best wishes,

John Craythorne and Lesley Thomas: joint newsletter editors

We are very pleased to announce that the former COP 26 group in Crediton is now part of Sustainable Crediton and called the Climate Action Team. Secondhand September

Buying second-hand items reduces environmental impact as it decreases the demand for new production. This conserves natural resources, reduces pollution, and is a s ...

Renewables are set to overtake coal by 2025

We're starting to emerge from an energy crisis, which showed the very volatile nature of an energy system based on fossil fuels. One piece of good news to come from this crisis was countries across the world making major investments in renewable energy. A report from the IEA has found that re ...
