Sustainable Crediton newsletter issue 127, August 2021

Welcome to our newsletter. It would be easy this month to dwell upon the devasting assessment from the IPCC of the current state of the climate emergency. But I'm not going to do that, as I'm sure all readers of the newsletter will be only too well aware of its contents.

So let's focus on the positive and the local, at a time when Sustainable Crediton is looking to reinvigorate itself and attract more active members.

On 4th September the Town Council has very generously invited us to share its information point in the square at the Farmers' Market: do come along and have a chat to us about our work.

We will be marking the Great Big Green Week by holding our Big Green Fair in the Square on 25th September, bringing together many local organisations and traders to celebrate their contributions to sustainability.

The following Saturday, October 2nd, we will be holding our post covid Re-launch, where we will be asking you to take part in shaping the future of Sustainable Crediton. We are also delighted to announce our special guest speaker at this event, Andy Gray of Elston, for whom many of us pitched in back in the spring to help with his major tree planting initiative. This will be followed by our much delayed annual general meeting,

Finally, a big thumbs up to the Town Council which is to hold a Climate Conversation - Peoples Assembly on 6th November,  to discuss the climate emergency. This had originally been planned for early 2020, but was stimied by the onset of Covid. More details to follow in our next newsletter.
