We have two big events coming up over the next few days and our
organisers would really appreciate your support. This week is One World
Week and taking place on the 18th October is
Crediton's first Justice Day, which comprises the Justice Fayre
and the Big Event. We shall be having a stall at the Justice Fayre
where we will base an exhibit around Neil Young's new environmental
protest song. There are also numerous other
stalls where local, national and international injustices will be
addressed. Justice Day takes place at the Congregational Church
from 12:30 to 3 pm, and in the evening from 7 to 9 pm there is the
Big Event with bands and choirs.
Following closely, at 7:30pm on the 20th
October, our Community
Renewable Energy Project team will be holding a public meeting
at Crediton United FC Clubhouse at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre. Our
consultants will be reporting their initial findings and we will be
seeking the public's opinion on whether we should concentrate on
wind, solar, or anaerobic digestion for our project. There will be
tea, coffee, cake and entertainment will be provided by Crediton's
performance poet Ian Beech. This meeting will be of
interest to people wishing to invest in a local renewable energy
project and get a good return on their capital, local businesses
who wish to have discounted electricity for the next 20 years,
community groups who may benefit from a community fund produced by
our project and anyone interested in helping make Crediton more
resilient for the future by making some of its own electricity
supply and hence be less reliant on the Big 6 energy companies and
fossil fuel.
We hope you can come along and support us.
