Sustainable Crediton Newsletter Issue 51

Welcome to the first newsletter this autumn with lots going on...

A chance to hear about running your group in a more enterprising way from two excellent speakers, and the latest funding opportunities at this free event on the 7th October at the Boniface Centre from 10am to 2pm.

The final Community Market of this year is on 11th October on the Market Square, Crediton from 10 am until 1pm.  If last year's market is anything to go by, there will also be a terrific selection of home grown vegetables, fruit, jams and chutneys so do come along and enjoy the fruits of the Autumn season. Orchards Live will be offering apple displays, tastings and advice.  Bring some of your apples with a bottle or two and they will press them to make your own juice.

Taking place on the 18th October is Crediton's first Justice Day, which comprises the Justice Fayre and the Big Event. We shall be having a stall at the Justice Fayre where we will base an exhibit around Neil Young's new environmental protest song. Justice Day takes place at the Congregational Church from 12:30 to 3 pm, and in the evening from 7 to 9 pm there is the Big Event with bands and choirs.

Following closely, at 7:30pm on the 20th October, our Community Renewable Energy Project team will be holding a public meeting at Crediton United FC Clubhouse at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre. Our consultants will be reporting their initial findings, we will be seeking the public's opinion on whether we should concentrate on wind, solar, or AD for our project, and we would really appreciate your attendance and help.

A mention about Positive News. The current edition, which is available at Ashtons and the Library, is the last free edition. If you enjoy reading Positive News then please buy a subscription, details can be found in the current newspaper or online at the Positive News website, in order to keep the publication financially viable.

Finally, Sustainable Crediton will be having a Christmas meal this year. It will take place on Tuesday 9th December at 7pm at Il Casitas at a cost of £17.50 for three courses. If you are interested then please email  claireduthie@live.co.uk or phone Claire on 01363 777312 with details of how many people you will be bringing along.
